There is clinical evidence that most gay people can't will themselves to become straight (or that if they can, they were probably bisexual to start with). There is, however, no evidence that white people will always be racist, forever and ever, amen. What the reparations crowd keeps trotting out is black underperformance, denying that inequality of outcome is different from inequality of opportunity.

Their real problem is the success of other minorities. If other minorities (esp. dark-skinned ones) are succeeding, it's hard to pin the blame on white racism for African-American failure.

True, there was that GOP retreat after the 2010 midterms. I thought of that as more of meeting than a speech. Though Obama did treat it more as a speech, demagoguing and misstating Republican positions to their faces, which aside from the untruthfulness, is just dumb. A smart politician keeps his spin close to the facts when he is talking directly to his opponents, esp. in a forum where they can talk back! There is no political profit in pissing off the opposition needlessly.

Ah, the eloquence and on-point focus of the right-wing brain! It's a brain that's succeeded in using the word "racist" to make some pathetic plea for the idea that whites are persecuted by all those entitled minorities.

This is useful to the people sending jobs away because it focuses anger on people who are also victims -- an old story here in America -- keep 'em slashing at each other because if they ever wake up -- we're cooked! Thus, Romney's tactic of being booed by the NAACP -- prefect to stir up all those ignorant types who have not the least understanding of the forces screwing up their lives.

I guess you just threw in Holder because, well -- he's black and the latest target of the right wing -- and he's going after those anti-American voter suppression efforts in various crucial states.
