Three forces--Palin, Pumas, and Joe the Plumber--that were supposed to disappear November 5th have bizarrely resurfaced this past week. It's like all three didn't get the memo that their moment was really done November 5th, not just set aside for the holiday season. Or some dada-esque performance piece about Things Starting With P That Should Have Gone Away Two Months Ago, But Are Back Now For No Discernable Reason.

Are there other stories from the end of the election that involve the letter P, whose zombified re-entrance we should vigilantly anticipate? What's wrong, the press is tired of spell-checking Blagojevich even when he provides them with Tennison quotes?

You know, now that I think about it, this does have kind of a Dada symmetry to it. A man called Joe the Plumber, whose name is not Joe and who is not a licensed plumber, becomes famous for asking a question about a situation that doesn't actually pertain to him. He then becomes a "war correspondent" that decries the actions of war correspondents when the report on war.
