Yeah, it's amazingly convenient to pin welfare and food stamps on black folks, like none of that went to poor whites. The corollary is even more amazing, in that it holds that the benefits also went to ALL blacks. Like everyone whose folks were slaves then proceeded right to welfare. Incredible.

Thanks for pointing to this. You hit it right on. The explicit separation in PB's argument is just wrong (I always thought that Pell Grants and Medicaid, etc helped people of all skin tones). That it seems right to him says a lot.

I don't know if it's better to just simply ignore Pat Buchanan. We have been ignoring him for the past few years and he obviously isn't going away. I think we can learn a great deal from his bigotry-his reasons for why black people are unpatriotic and why they ought to be grateful for slavery are deeply ingrained in the American psyche. His juxtaposition of the black community and federal programs like welfare etc..... He is in deep denial much like the rest of the country.
