And then I sigh for a moment and try to give her a break. She won't be back on the national stage, let's face it. So, I loosen up and try to just see her as mother in Alaska, who happened to become Governor, who happened to get a veep slot in a national election, who happened to lose, and is home now. Good luck to you, Sarah.

I'd be more inclined to support that narrative, if it weren't for the fact that her band of "looting hillbillies from Wasilla" made a mad grab for Other People's Money on her way out the door. Also, Jonathan Raban's report on her life as Mayor..

Re: Sarah claps back

Sarah Palin and her family are a "Cops" episode waiting to happen.

Re: Sarah claps back

I liked how Palin described the person as "bitter". I bet the critic is also "clinging" to something, like the wish that the veep candidate came with high-school level knowledge of world affairs.

Re: Sarah claps back

Sarah Palin is pretty dadgum stupid and incurious. But I don't think she thinks or thought that Africa was a country. She may have, as all of us have at some time, made a passing misstatement at some point to that effect. This is about people deflecting blame and covering their asses, so they came up with some very plausible bulljive to sell their story. That's what I think anyway, about this specific issue. Whether I'm right or not, we can all agree that Sarah Palin is plenty stupid, and nowhere near ready for Prime Time.

Re: Sarah claps back

Odd that this woman has a sense of entitlement that dwarfs the elitism she decries in others.

Small, bitter, person indeed.

And though it is far too easy to take shots at O'Reilly, I have a question for the man:

Why should any governor require tutoring on the way that government works? What to do with you. I have to admit, she does seem like she might secretly be a sweet person, but somehow she doesn't know its okay to just be who she is (just wait...). She thinks she needs to be tough and ugly-slingin' to move ahead, maybe because that's all she has. Not in the sense that all she has is ugliness, but that all she thinks she has at her disposal to get ahead is that kind of politicking. I can see why people react negatively to this (I have) but I'm starting to see her more as a person, kind of like in the way I started seeing my parents as "people" when I was in my early twenties. I realize that while I have reason to hate her ideas, I must search deeper to see the human being and the experiences that have shaped her.

She's from Wasilla, Alaska, for God's sake. You start doing that and people are going to expect some truth out of you.

Also, anyone else catch that? "Until I know who is talking about that, I won't have a comment."

Translated: "Tell me so I can take this fight public."

Someone please make that happen.
