In the ideal world, we'd see woman as Treasury secretary and throughout these ranks (of government)," Jenkins said."

Are these people on drugs or something?

Re: If we all had some Hil, up on Capitol Hill...

I would have preferred to have "the Clintons" just fade away into background (like that would ever happen), but Obama has proven pretty convincingly that he knows what he's doing so probably this will work out well.

Re: If we all had some Hil, up on Capitol Hill...

Nice spot on WNYC today TNC. I have debunked some of reasons for not wanting her at my website:

http://cointelpol.blogspot.com/2008/11/hillary-clinton-sos.html

Re: If we all had some Hil, up on Capitol Hill...

I don't really understand the concerns that so many Democrats have about Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. It is not in her interest as SoS to sabotage Obama's foreign policy. If she does, two things happen. First, a divided adminstration is likely to have a failed foreign policy, and her future (i.e. 2016) is tied to the success of the Obama administration. Second, if she sabotages the adminstration to the denigration of the Democratic brand, the Democratic powers-that-be will abandon her.

More thoughts at my website.

Re: If we all had some Hil, up on Capitol Hill...

i'm sure we will stop blowing up wedding parties and other civilians in Somalia, Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq next year.

Re: If we all had some Hil, up on Capitol Hill...

"It'll be great if it works. It'll suck if it doesn't."

Not sure what "it" is that will be great or suck, but I have faith Obama knows what he's doing. And for reasons I haven't quite pinned down, I believe Hillary will be a good Secretary of State, although I do have some reservations.

Despite what many people have said, I think she'll follow direction. Although she posseses some leadership skills, she's a follower. I say that because of her vote on Iraq. She did not lead, she followed the herd. That part of her actually bothers me quite a bit; we need people with good instincts. But Obama has good instincts, so I'm hoping he'll keep everyone in line.

Re: If we all had some Hil, up on Capitol Hill...

Mostly, it says that Obama was serious about his belief in having strong opinions surround him.

He is what he said he was!

Re: If we all had some Hil, up on Capitol Hill...

T, I think this whole Hillary thing is overblown. Personally, I like her and I think it's really as simple as Obama has indicated...you all run the plays I call, period.

Plus Hillary knows a good deal when she sees one and going long as Sec of State when many can't imagine America's stock being much lower, just sets her up for MASSIVE, GARGANTUAN sized gains, which she will undoubtedly leverage at some point...but such is life.

k1
