Whoa. You were in Marin yesterday? Did I miss the memo? Been crazy-busy the past few weeks (translation: not reading EVERY single post every day) but would've MADE the time to hear you read live. Gah. I know you're not a rapid self-promoter, TNC, but as a career publishing type -- before the second layoff, when I gave the fuck up & went freelance -- let me just say that if you're on any kind of tour you gotta mention & mention again & then mention again. I don't mean to be a scold . . . truly . . . but that kind of info is as much for us as for you-slash-book-sales. I think, or hope, people on the site would know that.

Maybe this is just a long, pesky way of saying that I'm sorry I missed you. And I don't want my comrades in Portland or Chicago or wherever to miss the opp if they can help it.

Big J-Live fan here. All of the Above is one of my wife's favorite albums. Did you listen to any of the other 7 heads mcs? We really dig Asheru and Blue Black too.

That night, I had one of those hip hop geography moments in Brooklyn. After the reading, I had to go to my friends' place in Bushwick, the quickest way being the G, so I went to the Hoyt-Schermerhorn stop and was instantly reminded of the line from The Prophet by Jeru the Damaja "Meet me at Hoyt and Schermerhorn at 3 on the dot"

J-Live fan here. Alive and well.

Although I'm not as keen on his newest work. I'm a big fan of "All of the Above" though.

It's about a good a critique of hip-hop as I've heard in a while without getting too preachy. Plus it's an awesome manual for what a good MC is and can be.

Plus he's a school teacher. How cool is that?
