After all, hating Wall Streeters simply for their outsize salaries, in and of itself, could be characterized as mere envy. What's really outrageous is their indignation at any suggestion that they might not be worth all that money, and that they should continue to rake it in going forward, even as their companies are now technically insolvent and being kept afloat with our tax dollars while millions are being laid off and the rest of us are being forced to cut back. Couple that with the perception that those seven- and eight-figure bonuses were justified by corporate profit numbers that we now know were nothing but smoke and mirrors, they begin to look like termites who got fat eating away at the foundation but got away just as the house was caving in.

Re: Fair Pay

Entitlement is weird. I work in a law firm, and I find that every so often associates and partners seem to really resent/envy a certain class of people. You know who it is?

Temporary Contract Attorneys who get paid something like a half of a first year associate, no benefits, no bonuses, and in many cases work just as many hours. Seriously. Even partners.
