As a lifelong resident of Dallas, stuck with the Dallas Morning News as a daily reminder of why I am a Democrat, it sure doesn't bother me to see them kicked off the press plane. My only regret is that the plane wasn't in the air when they got booted.

Frankly, I like that Obama doesn't buy into the press game. The sooner that journalists learn that all politicians will use them, the sooner we can get back to having a national press that's skeptical of everyone in the political class, and doesn't sell their credibility down the river for over-rated access.

Obama and his team have proven, step-by-step, that they've mastered rhetoric, organizing, fundraising, and turnout.

I read this as a sign that they also understand power. It's a sign the whole MSM is meant to see and understand, that tough coverage gets respect, but rotten reporting yields cold seats in the high bleachers.

Bookend it with the Maddow interview last night, when she tried to push him to say conservatives were the problem, and he pushed her right back with "I'm winning." He smiled right after he said it, but there weren't any starbursts coming through the screen when he did. More like ice. It was quick, but I've seen two debate handshake shots where he smiled like that, one each for Clinton and McCain.

I look forward to Pakistani military leaders and Russian power lords finding out about the ice.

It might be petty if they had plenty of room for everyone on the plane, but kicking off right wing propaganda rags to make room for some respectable outlets doesn't bother me one bit.

I might be inclined to think it was petty if I believed, even for a second, anything Drudge types. I mean I am sure there is probably some truth to the idea that these reporters were removed from the plane but I can almost guarantee that Drudge's spin on this is deeply dishonest. All due respect, you should really be more skeptical.

This is a total drudge manufactured story.Can you even wait for the campaigns response? It was no secret that those newspapers weren't pro-Obama before their endorsements. Those reporters were only on the plane some of the time. It's the homestrech. His media people are allowed some discretion. I'm sure all sorts of newspapers don't get on the plane.

Considering who got booted, I'd say petty is synonymous with "just desserts." Especially when you consider it's the NY Post and the Washington Times. Wonder if Fox News took it as a message?

I think there is some false equivilency goign on here. When McCain kicks off Klien or Dowd specifically he isn't kicking out Time or the Times, he is telling them who he will allow to cover him, pretty presumptious. When Obama's plane is full and he wants to allow a different set of papers on he has to pick papers to remove so he picked some that are right wing shills.

It IS awesome. At first, I was like, wow, now that ain't right.

But then I saw they were adding some hometown Chicago papers, and Essence and Jet.
