Love the Frosti/Aurora combo. That album reminds me of the winter. Post, Homogenic, Vespertine are all tremendous. I have one live version of Hyperballad that is just bangin.

Re: Bjork Awesomeness

I saw her at Radio City Music Hall on the last tour, with Konono No. 1 opening up. They were also part of her set, performing on a couple of songs. It was a killer show.

Re: Bjork Awesomeness

You guys are tripping. Vespertine is great. There are even a few bangers on Medulla.

Re: Bjork Awesomeness

Zak said: "Post" and "Homogenic" are two of my favorite albums from the 90s. Downhill since then[...]

I felt the same way, brother ("Vespertine?" Meh!)

But then "Volta" grabbed me by the nuts and hasn't let go. Dig this:

http://media.ghostrobot.net/7020_wanderlust.html

That whole record grew on me kinda like Homogenic did. I can't stop playing it!

Re: Bjork Awesomeness

Bjork Rules and YOU RULE for digging Bjork! Yes.... Man I went through such a Bjork phase back in college / immediate post-college... love Bjork.

Re: Bjork Awesomeness

Iceland has given us Bjork and Sigur Ros and for that I'm thankful.

My favorite Bjork songs, in no order:

All is full of Love

Hyperballad

Big Time Sensuality

Unison

Re: Bjork Awesomeness

I'm acquaintances with Drew Daniel of Matmos, who has worked with Bjork on recent albums here and there, and some years back -- for Vespertine, IIRC -- she told him about how she wanted to make sure her music sounded good on computer speakers and at mp3 quality because she knew where the future was going in terms of how people would listen. On the one hand you can bemoan that overall development -- not entirely fond of it myself -- but on the other hand I like how she had that figured out long ago enough to plan for it. Wise woman!

Re: Bjork Awesomeness

"Post" and "Homogenic" are two of my favorite albums from the 90s. Downhill since then, but she's still fuggin Björk.

Re: Bjork Awesomeness

Saw her three times last year. Old post with video from my blog: http://freedomsuite.blogspot.com/2007/09/state-of-emerging-see.html

And why else do we love Bjork? Because she stays reppin' for the Apollo. Nothing like being able to walk to and from a gig like that.

Re: Bjork Awesomeness

*shakes fist in impotent rage at P to the J*

Re: Bjork Awesomeness

TNC, you owe it to everyone now to follow that up with Iconoclasts' transcendent Bjork-Charles Barkley discussion: http://www.broadcaster.com/clip/28947

Re: Bjork Awesomeness

Ta-Nehisi- the drums on it are incredible. I loved her in the Sugarcubes, and was excited to see her break out on her own all those years ago. The woman is in a different artistic space, and I am go glad that we have the privilege of hearing the results.

Re: Bjork Awesomeness

Still one of my best friends.

Shani,

That version is my favorite, I like it so much better than the original. What can I say? I love the drums.

What ever happened with your buddy and this disaster of a girl?
